Sunday June 20 was a great day of celebration, sunshine and good times on the trails as we kicked off the 2021 Trail Running Series at Yarra Bend.We celebrated the fact we can get together, engage with one another, and return to racing along trails in the bush. The magnificent sunshine added to the size of the smiles on our faces, and we all revelled in the beauty of the Yarra Bend National park and its flowing riverside trails that act like an oasis in an urban desert. We really enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces at the event. We also enjoyed welcoming plenty of new faces and those who joined us for their first ever trail run !Thank you to the 800+ runners who participated and we thank you for respecting the COVID-altered race format and following the group size limit rules and wave start procedures. We could not be happier with how the day rolled out. There are still 4 more races to enjoy, in the Series – check them out here.
The start / finish area at Yarra Bend Park takes place in a beautiful parkland surrounding the Yarra River. Not far away is the iconic bridge to Studley Park Boat House where there is a cafe and you can hire a canoe – what better way to celebrate your morning trial run!
Things to see and do for spectators:
- There is a playground nearby for kids, permanent toilets and car parking areas providing good facilities for families.
- There are a range of short and long walking tracks that start and finish along the Yarra Bend Trails
- Check out the Parks Victoria visitor guide for maps and further information
Otherwise, hang out at the Event Expo where the finish line is and give everyone a well-deserved cheer as they come through at the end.
